Death of Cork jockey Michael O’Sullivan (24) after racing fall ruled ‘accidental’ at inquest

A coroner has delivered a verdict of “accidental death” in relation to the passing of a young North Cork jockey, described as an “up and coming star” of the sport, who died following a fall at Thurles Racecourse on February 6, 2025.

Michael O’Sullivan from Currabower, Lombardstown, died at Cork University Hospital ten days after the fall from “Wee Charlie” during the meeting at the Tipperary racecourse, after what his family had described as a “Trojan battle”.
