Saint Paul’s letter to the Corinthians says: “Women should be silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak but should be subordinate, as the law also says.”
History didn’t record how the men running the English Football Association in the early decades of the 20th century felt about women staying silent in church. We know how they felt about the idea of women playing on sacred FA turf, though.
