More than 350 works in stunning surroundings of Castlemartyr

Patrick O’Reilly, The Warrior will feature on the grounds of Cork’s five-star Castlemartyr resort this summer.

A world-class art and sculpture exhibition featuring over 350 works is set to return to Cork next month – and it is free of charge in some beautiful landscapes.

Art and Soul will take over the grounds and interiors of the five-star Castlemartyr Resort from June 1 to June 28, with more than 350 artworks on display across the luxury East Cork estate.

The exhibition is completely free to attend and will be open daily from 11am to 7pm, with guided tours running every day at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm.

Hosted by Gormleys, the month-long event will include over 100 outdoor sculptures and installations spread throughout the resort’s 220-acre grounds, alongside more than 200 artworks displayed inside the hotel.

Among the biggest attractions this year is The Unicorn, a large-scale sculpture by surrealist icon Salvador Dalí, while works from internationally acclaimed artists including Banksy, Andy Warhol, Tracey Emin, Sophie Ryder, Philip Jackson and Julian Opie will also feature.

The exhibition will also spotlight Irish artists and sculptors including John Redmond, Peter Monaghan, Jenny Belton, Liam O’Neill, Eamonn Ceannt and Ian Pollock.

Visitors can also attend artists’ talks and musical performances throughout the event, while Castlemartyr Resort is offering special overnight stay packages and Champagne afternoon tea experiences during the exhibition.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Oliver Gormley said the event gives visitors a unique chance to experience world-class art in one of Cork’s most scenic locations.

“Art and Soul gives art lovers a unique opportunity to view these incredible works of art in the beautiful surroundings of Castlemartyr,” he said.

Castlemartyr Resort General Manager Brendan Comerford added that the historic estate provides the “perfect background” for the arts-focused summer programme.

This marks the fourteenth major art and sculpture exhibition organised by Gormleys and the fourth time the event has been hosted at Castlemartyr Resort.
