Aston Villa need to make an immediate U-turn on one of their star’s futures after comments he made after the Europa League final victory against Freiburg.

Unai Emery’s side secured a sensational 3-0 victory to win the Europa League title on Wednesday night.

Youri Tielemans opened the scoring with a stunning volley before Emi Buendia made it 2-0 just before half-time.

After the break, Villa’s dominance continued with Morgan Rogers putting the icing on the cake, scoring their third of the evening.

It was hardly a huge surprise that Villa won the final, with Emery a master when it comes to winning the Europa League.

Emery has now won the Europa League on four occasions, three times with Sevilla and now once with Aston Villa.

Aston Villa Must Make U-Turn

Aston Villa need to make an immediate U-turn on the future of Emi Martinez after comments he made after their Europa League final triumph.

The Argentine goalkeeper has been linked with a move away from the club, and reports have claimed that they are even searching for replacements at the moment.

Emery and his team need to do everything they can to convince the Argentine international to remain at Villa Park after what he revealed on Wednesday evening.

After the game, Martinez confirmed that he broke his finger during the warm-up. Every time he caught the ball, his finger was going the other way, but he put everything on the line for the club.

“Today I broke my finger during the warm-up! But.. for me, every bad thing brings something good. I’ve done this my whole life and I’ll keep doing it! “I have never had a broken finger before. Every time I caught the ball, it went the other way. But these are things you have to go through, and I’m proud to defend Aston Villa.”

Martinez’s Commitment is What Villa Need

That kind of commitment is exactly what Emery needs going forward as they look to tackle the Champions League next season.

Selling him would be a disaster, especially after the Argentine has enjoyed a phenomenal campaign with the Midlands club, both domestically and in Europe.

Martinez still managed to keep a clean sheet despite his broken finger and refused to pull out of the clash. Instead, he went on to help his side secure the Europa League.

Villa need to make an immediate U-turn, stop searching for replacements, and try to convince him to stay at the club.
