A major Garda operation took place in Cobh today, targeting organised criminal activity in the area. A number of properties and vehicles were raided by officers in a large-scale Garda crackdown.
Searches began early this morning with a significant Garda presence, targeting suspected criminal groups operating in the town. During searches, a number of items were seized, ranging from weapons and phones to e-scooters and drugs. Gardaí say no arrests were made during the course of today’s operation, but investigations are ongoing.
Gardaí from the Cork County Crime and Community Engagement Units were assisted by the Armed Support Unit, Dog Unit and other members to conduct a “large-scale operation” in Cobh on Friday, 22nd May 2026.
Gardaí seized electronic devices, weapons, vehicles, e-scooters and suspected controlled substances which will be all be subject to further technical and forensic examination.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí from the Cork County Crime and Cork County North East Community Engagement Units, assisted by the Armed Support Unit, Dog Unit and other members, conducted a large-scale operation targeting organised criminal activity in Cobh, Co. Cork this Friday, 22nd May 2026.
“A number of premises, vehicles and individuals have been searched this morning. As a result, electronic devices, weapons, vehicles, e-scooters and suspected controlled substances were seized. All of the items seized will be subject to further technical and forensic examination. No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing.”
