Tommy Fleming’s wife Tina has spoken publicly for the first time following the couple’s marriage breakdown and the singer coming out as gay.
Earlier this month, Tina Mitchell issued a statement to confirm her 20-year marriage to Tommy ended last October. She has also stepped down as his manager.
This followed confirmation from gardaí that they are currently investigating the leak of an audio recording of a private conversation involving the singer, Tina and his stepdaughter Rebecca. The recording touched on his sexuality, his infidelity, his drug use and more.
Tommy recently gave a bombshell interview to The Hard Shoulder on Newstalk, in which he openly acknowledged his sexuality and admitted to leading a double life behind the scenes of his marriage.
The singer also opened up about his mental health and substance abuse in the candid sit-down with Ciara Kelly on Newstalk.

Tina has now broken her silence on the couple’s split, saying she “regrets ever meeting him” and accusing Tommy of stealing “24 years of my life”.
Speaking to the Irish Independent, Tina said described the impact the breakdown of her marriage has had on her.
“I’ve lost two stone. I have lost my confidence and I have lost my mind. I cannot face anybody. I don’t think I’d be here today if it wasn’t for my family and friends,” she said.
“I feel completely broken.”
Tina continued: “It doesn’t matter whether he was bisexual, straight, gay or whatever he was when he met me – he knew, so he should not have married me.
“He shouldn’t have stolen 24 years of my life. I regret ever meeting him. I regret the 24 years that I’ve wasted. I could have been in a completely different situation in my life.
The couple’s professional relationship has also ended, with Tina stepping down from her role as director of TF Productions Ltd
Tommy and Tina met at a mutual friend’s funeral in 2002. The couple got engaged in 2004 while visiting Cape Town in South Africa, and married in Clifden, Co. Galway, in 2006.
But things finally came to a head last September when Tina’s daughter Rebecca, went to speak to Tommy, who had moved out of the house following a row.
“Becky asked him straight out, ‘Are you gay?’, And his answer was, ‘I might be bisexual,’” Tina explained.
“He arrived back here the following day and said we needed to talk. I said: ‘There’s no talking, we’re done, please leave’. He said: ‘This is all a mistake, this is a complete misunderstanding, and I’m not going to be put down for something I did not do’.”
During the interview with Newstalk earlier this month, Tommy publicly came out as gay, acknowledging that he had spent many years concealing his true identity.

“I’d love to say it’s to set to record straight, but it’s to give my side of it too, to give you my truth,” he explained when asked why he had chosen to speak out at this moment.
“For at least 10 or 13 years of marriage we were very happy but small cracked started to appear,” he continued.
“Small cracks that were never mended. Those cracks became a chasm. I wasn’t happy with my own situation… It wasn’t about being happy, it was about being uncomfortable with the situation if that makes sense.
“I had been living a lie for all my life really. The hardest part of that was the energy and the effort it took for this lie to be constantly covered. That lie was that I’m gay.”
Tommy acknowledged that the fallout of recent weeks has taken a significant toll on both his family and himself.
“They’re all hurting at different levels in different ways,” he explained. “There’s anger, and I absolutely understand that anger. There’s regret. There’s a bucket full of words that you can use and emotions in here.

“The only thing I can say is, I’m absolutely remorseful and regretful for it, for any of the the hurt I’ve caused to the people I love in pursuing my truth or living my truth.
“I don’t seek forgiveness and I don’t expect it. But I would hope, if there is a God, I would hope and pray that there would be acceptance.”
When asked what he would say to Tina if she were listening, he continued: “I can’t undo the wrongs I’ve done. I can’t change the past. I can only look ahead and in order for me to survive, in order for me to have a life, I have to tell the truth.”
