A former Jersey GP has been sentenced to 210 hours of community service after he forged the prescriptions of three patients, over the course of five years.
Jersey’s Royal Court heard Henryk Jerszy Juchniewicz who was working as a GP at Cleveland Medical Practice at the time, prescribed multiple drugs for himself, as well as a script for the weight-loss drug, Ozempic, for his then wife in the UK.
Over five years from March 22nd 2020 to March 21st 2025 Juchniewicz forged 37 prescription using records of two former patients and one current patient.
In court today, the prosecution outlined how he followed the same process for each of his patients – prescribing drugs, accessing them before cancelling the prescription to avoid being detected. Most of the drugs were for his own personal use including Modifinil – a substance that keeps you stay awake and prevent sleepiness. Juchniewicz’s defence advocate argued this was done to keep on top of his work which was stressful and time consuming. However, on several occasions, he also prescribed drugs for his then ex wife who was living in the UK. This included the weight-loss drug Ozempic.
The former GP also prescribed a drug to his ex-partner in March 2020 which he thought could be effective against COVID-19 after he saw it was being used in Japan at the time to combat the virus.
The court accepted the drugs were for his personal use or for close relations and there was no financial benefit.
The forgeries came to light in June 2025 when concerns were raised by an ex-patient, he was then arrested and interviewed.
In mitigation the court heard Juchniewicz was under stress and in a bad relationship and self–prescribed to deal with high workload and a poor mental state.

Deputy Bailiff Mark Temple KC praised the practice manager of Cleveland Clinic for their swift action.
He told Juchniewicz: “There is no doubt that the trust placed in the you was absolute. You breached the trust of your patients, you breached the trust of your surgery and you breached the public’s trust in the medical profession.”
Th court heard Juchniewicz was very likely to be struck off by the General Medical Council.
He was sentenced to 210 hours of community service and to pay £1,000.
After pleading guilty, he lost his job at Cleveland Medical Practice.
The manager Nell Montague-Rendall said in statement today: “As soon as we became aware of this incident we took immediate steps to investigate the issue.
“Dr Juchniewicz has not been working in the practice since. We understand that the matter has been dealt with by the relevant authorities.”
