Construction has gotten underway on the long-awaited Minor Injuries Unit in Ballina, similar to the one currently in operation in Roscommon.
The facility, which will open for seven days a week and 12 hours each day, is set to open still this year.
The unit will provide treatment for a range of conditions including broken bones, cuts and soft tissue injuries, and will accept both GP referrals and self-referrals from patients.
Meanwhile as part of this development, the out-of-hours healthcare service Westdoc has made a move to a new location in the North Mayo town on Kevin Barry Street.
