Listeners across the globe have surrendered to the blinding lights of Bulgaria’s Eurovision winner

Our latest Eurovision champ has been setting the charts alight across Europe and beyond, blazing a trail to the very top in plenty of places.

One weekend on from the Grand Final and we were able to see the huge impact that the winner of the 70th Eurovision Song Contest has been having on music listeners, as the official singles charts of the week were published in many countries.

Officially a hit

The people of Austria are understandably still holding close to their hearts the champion that was made in their Host City of Vienna. There, Bangaranga went straight into the Number 1 spot on the official singles chart, ahead of a slew of other faves from the three Live Shows.

In neighbouring Germany, the fourth-largest music market in the world, it’s also earned the Number 1 position atop their chart. It marks the first time that a Eurovision song has reached Number 1 on the official singles chart in Germany in well over a decade, since Loreen’s Euphoria managed it in 2012. Germany really said legends only.

In another of the world’s largest music markets, Sweden, DARA went straight to Number 1 too, with the Swedish song for Vienna 2026, My System by FELICIA, right behind it at Number 2. We can’t imagine FELICIA will be too upset about giving up her place though, after spending an almighty ten weeks atop the Swedish singles chart already.

On the other official singles charts across Europe, it has also reached number 1 in Lithuania, with other big highlights including Number 2 in Finland (kept off the top spot by Finland’s own Eurovision hit Liekinheitin) and Number 2 in Switzerland, where Bangaranga finds itself sandwiched between Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean at 1 and Beat It at 3. Evidently when the Swiss weren’t sat watching the Eurovision Song Contest, they were taking a trip to the cinema!

Over on Spotify, Bangaranga has been making waves from its Black Sea origins to all across the rest of the world. Following its show-stopping introduction to audiences at the Grand Final, viewers responded by becoming repeat listeners.

They sent the song right to the top of the Spotify Daily Chart in multiple countries, with the Number 1 spot being secured in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Lithuania, Sweden, Switzerland and Ukraine.

Bangaranga also went Top 5 in Denmark, Greece, Latvia, Luxembourg and Poland, and made the Top 10 in Czechia, Norway, Romania and the United Kingdom.

All that chart success on Spotify brought with it some big streaming numbers, with the Eurovision winner being played well over 3 million times across the globe on the day after the Grand Final alone. And that figure was more than enough to see it impact the Spotify Global daily chart, with Bangaranga becoming the 12th most-played song in the world that day.

Historically, only two Eurovision-winning songs have charted higher on Spotify Global – Loreen’s Tattoo (Sweden 2023) at Number 5 and MÃ¥neskin’s ZITTI E BUONI (Italy 2021) at 9.

And the streams kept streaming for Bangaranga in the week that followed. To demonstrate how big it’s become since lifting the trophy, on the day of the Grand Final we saw that the song stood at a total stream count of over 5 million Spotify plays since its release in March. One week on from the Grand Final and it had already quadrupled in popularity; it’s now at over 20 million!

Stream Queen

Equally, DARA’s own artist following on Spotify has increased dramatically throughout the year, on her own journey to Vienna and beyond.

The singer, already a huge star in her native Bulgaria, had an impressive count of over 80,000 monthly listeners on her Spotify profile at the end of January, when she was selected to represent her country in Vienna. Now, one week on from the Grand Final, and she’s got over 5 million monthly listeners pressing play on Bangaranga and the rest of her catalogue.

Finally, let’s not forget the striking visuals that assisted with DARA winning in Vienna for Bulgaria. On the Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel, all of our video uploads of the song have accumulated a total view count of 35 million, and it’s rising repaidly.
