Gardaí have launched a witness appeal after a cyclist died following an incident in Limerick on Tuesday.
The road traffic incident, involving a bicycle, occurred shortly after 2pm on the Dublin Road, Mountshannon, Limerick City on Tuesday, May 26. A male cyclist, aged in his 40s, left the scene and travelled to a domestic residence.
The male cyclist received treatment by emergency services. He was pronounced dead during Tuesday afternoon. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident to come forward.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic incident on the Dublin Road, Mountshannon, Limerick City on Tuesday, 26 May”.
They added: “Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the Dublin Road, Mountshannon, Limerick city between 1:30pm and 2:10pm on Tuesday 26 May 2026 are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Henry Garda Station on (061) 212400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
Separately, a woman, 80s, was killed in a road traffic collision in Co. Clare. The vehicle crash occurred on the R352 near Moymore, Tulla, at around 3:30pm on Monday, May 25.
Two other women were injured in the collision and were taken to hospital where they were treated for serious injuries.
