Paris Jackson has “the most beautiful relationship” with her dad, Michael, now that she has put up boundaries.
On Tuesday, May 26, the Doctor Odyssey actress, 28, appeared on Ozzy Osbourne’s son Jack’s Trying Not to Die podcast and opened up about the pressure of carrying one of the most famous last names in the world.
Paris spent much of her childhood at the infamous Neverland Ranch with her dad and other siblings, Prince and Bigi. Despite once having a very close-knit bond with the singer, she felt it began to turn “parasocial” after his death and as she got older.
She recalled being compelled to post tributes to social media for her dad’s birthday and death anniversary. The actress felt she “needed to basically mimic how a fan would express their love.”
“There’s definitely a certain element where I felt I had to share everything,” she added. Paris said that her mindset has “drastically changed in the last few years” as she learned, “I had a personal relationship, not a parasocial relationship.

“The way I express myself now, I don’t want it to feel performative,” she added. “I don’t really feel like any of us owe anyone anything.”
Paris is now learning she can have her own personal relationship with her dad, and she can be private about it. This outlook has benefited her bond with her late dad.
“I’m now like, my relationship is the most beautiful relationship ever,” she mentioned. “I’m in a very beautiful spot with my dad, and I love that, and it’s no one’s business, and I don’t have to share that with anybody.
“There’s a lot of freedom in that, which is really cool. I’m not going to express my love in a copycat way, copying someone that didn’t know him,” Paris concluded. “Because I did. That was my best friend.”

Her admission comes just a month after she slammed her father’s biopic Michael, which sees her cousin Jaafar depict the Grammy Award-winning singer.
She took to Instagram and revealed she hasn’t been attached to the film, despite her eldest brother Prince serving as an executive producer.
“A big reason why I haven’t said anything up until this point is because I know a lot of you guys are going to be happy with it,” she said. “The film panders to a very specific section of my dad’s fandom that still lives in the fantasy. And they’re going to be happy with it.”
Paris accused the biopic of containing “a lot of inaccuracy” and “just full-blown lies.”
“At the end of the day, that doesn’t really fly with me. I don’t really like dishonesty,” the actress explained. “I spoke up, I wasn’t heard, I f—ed off.”
