A man ordered a fry up in Tenerife but people were left gobsmacked by the price of the meal. They couldn’t help but share their thoughts when they saw the bill recently

Tenerife is a firm favourite amongst tourists heading to the Canary Islands, but one man, who’s apparently based there, left viewers gobsmacked when he shared the cost of a meal. He’d ordered a fry up to start his day, and people couldn’t help but express their disbelief at the bill.
The man, who goes by Tenerife First Excursions on TikTok, was eager to show off his culinary experience in Tenerife, and he had plenty to say about his breakfast. As the old saying goes, it’s crucial to set yourself up with a decent meal to begin the day, and some would argue food tastes that bit better when you’re holidaying or enjoying time in the sunshine.
When he revealed his bill, however, the comments came flooding in. It’s not the first occasion the cost of a meal at the beloved destination has turned heads, with a previous diner’s receipt leaving people equally speechless.
In the footage, he said: “A lot of people say Tenerife ain’t cheap anymore, and I’m here to tell you otherwise, because all of this – two toasts, two sausage, two bacon, tomato, two eggs – all on a massive plate with brown sauce, right in front of the sea.
“€4.60 (£3.42). I’ve got a full breakfast in the sun for it. I haven’t tried it yet but, for the price, I’m happy as Larry.”
He did mention that beans were absent from his plate, but explained this was down to personal preference, having requested a breakfast without them. His Los Cristianos breakfast appeared to leave him thoroughly satisfied.

The video has racked up thousands of views since being posted, and viewers were quick to share their opinions. They provided all manner of reactions.
One wrote: “It’s a lot cheaper I think. We go to Marmaris a lot and it’s double the price.” Another chimed in: “How is that €4? For me in Alicante, I pay almost €10 (£8.65).”
A third responded: “Breakfast was BANGING over there and price was a 10/10.” Meanwhile, a fourth noted: “Am in Las Américas. €5 (£4.33) for similar today.”
Another person remarked: “That would cost upwards of €10 in Dublin.” One more user observed: “We always go here for breakfast. It’s really good. Back this Sunday for my birthday and can’t wait.”
Is Tenerife budget-friendly?
For those curious, Tenerife is widely regarded as a reasonably priced European holiday spot. Visitors can tailor their spending to suit virtually any budget.
Evidence suggests a typical budget-conscious traveller spends roughly €75 to €90 daily, which includes mid-range meals, affordable local transport and basic self-catering accommodation. However, it’s worth noting that location can influence overall costs.
In the south, high demand from tourists can push up the cost of dining and beachfront accommodation. However, heading north is said to offer more genuine local experiences at lower prices and better value for money.
For those keen to keep costs to a minimum, it’s advisable to steer clear of travelling during school holiday periods. The most affordable months to visit are generally May, June and September, when both flight and accommodation prices have the potential to fall significantly.
