There were many cheers but also plenty of tears when two much-loved Letterkenny teachers retired recently.

Errigal College will probably never be the same after the retirements of Margaret Russell Kelly and Margaret McAteer.

The two ladies had a combined 61 years of dedicated service to the school between them.

Margaret Russell Kelly joined Errigal College in 1989 and retires after 37 years of service to the school.

A teacher of Business, Mathematics, CSPE and BFL, she also served on the Middle Leadership Team.

Throughout her career, she made a huge contribution to teaching, pastoral care and leadership within the school, supporting students and contributing significantly to the wider life of the school community.

Margaret McAteer joined Errigal College in 2002 and retires after 24 years of service to the school. A teacher of Music and Religion, she also fulfilled the role of HSCL (Home School Community Liaison), where she played an important part in fostering strong links between home, school and the wider community.

Principal Mr Danny McFadden paid tribute to both retiring staff members.
