Tribit’s 200W speaker has just got a huge firmware update and a big price reduction

Chinese brand Tribit’s aim is to bring affordable, feature-laden and robustly made speakers to the Bluetooth audio market.
Stormbox Blast 2 is a powerful party speaker with a 200W combined output that includes an 80W subwoofer, two 45W mid-range drivers and two 15W tweeters.
On top of the seriously loud audio, it comes with some party lights and karaoke support.

Tribit StormBox Blast 2 in everyday use
While it is a portable speaker, do note that StormBox Blast 2 weighs 7kg so you may need a car to carry it if travelling a distance. It is a robustly made unit that is IP67-rated for dust and water resistance.
The Tribit mobile app (available for both Android and iOS) keeps things simple and features a few audio presets, the option to create your own nine-band EQ settings and customise what the XBass button does. The app also enables you to adjust the device name, set an auto-shutdown timer and countdown and install firmware updates.

You don’t need the app for the speaker’s everyday use and, in fact, you can operate it easily without ever using the app.
The top of the device houses a panel of controls for power, Bluetooth, volume, bass boost and lights.
A multifunction button controls play, pause and track skipping, while the TWS button enables you to link StormBox Blast 2 with a compatible speaker to create a chain of wireless speakers, all playing the same audio source either as stereo speakers or in party mode.
The rear of the device is home to a small covered panel that contains the AC power connection, microphone inputs and volume controls, an aux connection and USB-A and USB-C ports.
The microphone inputs are for karaoke sessions, and you get a reverb option to take things to the next level. You can connect up to two microphones with the wired inputs on the rear, and the device also works with wireless Bluetooth microphones.

Audio is lively, with plenty of bottom end that fills a room if your party is indoors. That audio quality has been further boosted by a new firmware update that also includes EQ customisation, X-3D performance, microphone features and overall audio optimisation.

Battery life is excellent. StormBox Blast 2 is capable of up to 30 hours of playtime from a single charge. Obviously this will depend on how loud you are playing your music and how bright you have set the party lights if switched on.
Tribit StormBox Blast 2 verdict
StormBox Blast 2 has been powering parties and karaoke sessions for some time but now the kick-ass 200W machine is fine-tuned to deliver even more for your money with the latest firmware update. Being able to access a customisable EQ to tweak the audio to your own preference is always welcome and still one of its most welcome features.
