Thirty new jobs are being created.
Dooradoyle shoppers will have a major new grocery option before the end of the month, as German retail giant ALDI confirmed its new €13 million Limerick outlet will open its doors on Thursday, 18th June.
The highly anticipated launch on the Dooradoyle Road marks ALDI’s fifth store in County Limerick. It is expected to provide an immediate boost to the local economy, bringing 30 new permanent jobs to the area.
Store manager Michael Essex expressed his excitement about welcoming the public to the new development.
He emphasised that the supermarket’s core strategy of delivering high-quality everyday essentials at low prices remains unchanged since it first landed in Ireland in 1999.
Essex noted that the team is incredibly grateful for the strong local support received during the planning and construction phases, adding that the goal is to make grocery shopping as straightforward and affordable as possible for the Dooradoyle community.
The new development is a significant addition to the suburban retail landscape, bringing ALDI’s total investment in Limerick to €48 million.
The brand now employs more than 120 people across the county. Local customer engagement remains incredibly high, with the supermarket chain welcoming nearly two million shoppers through its existing Limerick doors in 2025 alone.
Spanning 1,820 square meters, the facility features a modern, spacious layout designed for quick and efficient shopping. It includes wide aisles, six self-service checkouts, and an in-store bakery.
For drivers, the site offers 88 dedicated car parking spaces, including 10 quick-charge slots for electric vehicles.
The Dooradoyle branch also features strong environmental credentials, starting with 95 square meters of solar panels mounted on the roof.
Crucially for local consumers, the branch will tie into the company’s highly successful environmental initiatives.
Visitors to the Dooradoyle branch will have the option to pay these refunds forward by donating their deposits directly to Barnardos, the supermarket’s national charity partner.
The store will actively participate in a food redistribution network with FoodCloud, which has already supplied over 46,000 meals to charitable organisations and community causes right across Limerick.
The new location will operate from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM Monday through Saturday, and from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Sundays.
