Former All-Ireland winning footballer and hurler with Cork, Denis Coughlan, has died at the age of 80.
Coughlan amassed four Celtic Crosses, playing in a dominant era for the Rebel County hurlers, as they landed the Liam MacCarthy in 1976, 1977 and 1978.
Before that, he also won a football All-Ireland as Cork beat Galway in the 1973 final at Croke Park.
Along with his national success, he won nine Munster medals – five in hurling and four in football – and was named Hurler of the Year in 1977, while he also picked up four hurling All-Star Awards.
He played club hurling with Glen Rovers where he captained the side to the 1973 All-Ireland title, beating Offaly’s St Rynagh in the final, and added another winner’s medal four years later.
