Rampant Fermanagh went on a scoring spree and had far too much power and panache for an outgunned 14-man New York side in Brewster Park.

This win means they are through to the quarter-finals of the competition with a tasty home draw.

New York lost Cian O’Dea to a second yellow card at the start of the second half which made the Erne side’s task all the easier.

They also had a dream start when young star Marrie McDermott scored a goal after three minutes.

Joe McDade, Conor O’Hanlon, the lively Conor Love and Shane McGullin all nailed points to give them a 1-5 to 0-0 lead after nine minutes.

Killian Butler netted for the visitors in the 12th minute at the second attempt and then added a point.

It wasn’t enough though as Fermanagh team captain Ronan McCaffrey, Garvan Jones and Love added more points to put their side into a 1-10 to 1-02 lead four minutes from the break.

Frank O’Reilly landed a two pointer for the visitors and Tiernan Mathers and Jack McKenna were all on target for New York, but Ultan Kelm, who had his first start in well over a year, had the final say as Fermanagh led by 1-13 to 1-6 at the break.

McDermott got an early free on the resumption as O’Dea got his marching orders for New York.

The winners then went on a scoring spree from Sean McNally, McDermott, Love and Conor McGee. New York did not score until the 48th minute when O’Reilly slotted over a two-pointer.

Substitute Aogan Kelm hit a cracking goal for the home side as Fermanagh led by 2-20 to 1-9.

O’Hanlon, McDade and McNally also secured points as Darragh McGurn hit their third goal and added three final points to seal an emphatic win.
