GAA Central Council has approved a proposal to move the All-Ireland football final into August and the hurling final to the last Sunday in July.
The move would require the removal of pre-season competitions like the O’Byrne Cup and McKenna Cup, which were temporarily suspended this year to create more breathing space in the playing calendar.
