Princess Anne’s son has married NHS nurse Harriet Sperling today, after a two-year romance — though this is not the first time Peter Phillips has walked down the aisle.
The 48-year-old, a nephew of King Charles, previously wed Canadian-born Autumn Kelly in a lavish ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor back in May 2008, with the late Queen and Prince Philip among the guests, along with his cousin Prince Harry, though Prince William was unable to be there on the day.
Despite not yet being married herself, Princess Kate was present at the wedding, with many believing it marked her first encounter with the late Queen.
The couple spent a period living in Hong Kong due to Peter’s former role with the Royal Bank of Scotland, before eventually returning to the UK to raise their two daughters, Savannah, 14, the late Queen’s eldest great-grandchild, and Isla, 13.
In February 2020, however, the pair announced their separation following 12 years of marriage. Their divorce was finalised “amicably” and the couple released a joint statement saying: “Whilst this is a sad day for Peter and Autumn, they continue to put the wellbeing and upbringing of their wonderful daughters Savannah and Isla first and foremost.”, reports the Mirror.

“Both Peter and Autumn are pleased to have resolved matters amicably with the children firmly at the forefront of those thoughts and decisions. Peter and Autumn have requested privacy and consideration for their children as the family adapts to a new chapter in their lives.” Just a year on from their divorce, it emerged that Autumn had begun a romance with wealthy Irish property magnate Donal Mulryan. The pair had been acquainted for a number of years, and Mulryan was going through a separation from his former wife when the relationship rumours began to circulate.
Autumn and Donal made their first public appearance as a couple at the Cirencester horse trials in March 2022, stepping out alongside Autumn’s former sister-in-law, Zara Tindall, and her family.
Since then, the duo have been spotted together at numerous events, including the Cheltenham races, which are also a favourite haunt of the royals. Autumn and Peter are understood to still maintain a cordial relationship as they co-parent their daughters.

Earlier this year, Autumn and Donal attended Cheltenham Festival at the same time as Harriet and Peter, while Autumn also joined former sister-in-law Zara for a warm snap at Mike Tindall’s annual golf day.
Peter announced his engagement to girlfriend Harriet last August. The couple were photographed together in images released to mark the occasion, with Ms Sperling proudly displaying her engagement ring.
