Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a man in Galway city yesterday.
At approximately 7.45pm on Sunday, gardaí and emergency services were alerted after a man in his 30s was found unresponsive on educational campus lands at Newcastle.
The man was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Galway, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The Coroner has been notified, along with the Office of the State Pathologist.
The scene has been preserved for technical examination.
A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.
The results of that examination will determine the direction of the investigation.
Gardaí have said that inquiries are continuing.
