Hey there, Connectors! Welcome to my deeper dive into today’s Connections answers. The idea behind this is to help clear things up for anyone who isn’t sure how today’s groups fit together.

I’m going to assume that you’ve already beaten today’s game. We’re going straight into spoiler territory here. So, consider this your one and only warning.
Here are today’s NYT Connections answers explained (and any red herrings I spot) for Thursday, June 11:

Today’s NYT Connections Answers ExplainedConnections – Yellow Group
🟨 parts of a workout routine (BALANCE, CARDIO, STRETCHING, WEIGHTS)
These all seem straightforward enough!
Connections – Green Group
🟩 things with horns (BRASS BAND, DEVIL, RHINO, VIKING HELMET)
In a BRASS BAND, the horn section might include trumpets, trombones, saxophones, French horns etc.
The DEVIL is often depicted with horns on its head. DEVIL horns are also a common hand gesture used by rock and metal fans:

Redferns
A RHINO is otherwise known as a rhinoceros.
As for a VIKING HELMET? Yup, that often has horns on it:

These refer to:

I had to ask a car person I know about these because I am not going to use a chatbot. I have never in my life heard of an Isuzu Trooper, and I don’t think I have heard of a GMC Yukon.
Connections – Purple Group
🟪 payment apps minus a letter (ELLE, PAPAL, STRIP, VENO)
These refer to:
ELLE > ZellePAPAL > PayPalSTRIP > StripeVENO > Venmo
I believe Zelle and Venmo are only available in the United States.
Connections – Red Herrings
Connections often has some red herrings. Let’s take a look at today’s (assuming I spotted any).

I didn’t see any red herrings this time. I don’t know that we really needed one with those blue and purple groups we had today.
Edit: A few folks pointed out to me that BRONCHO, CARDIO, RHINO and VENO are all medical prefixes. They refer to the respiratory system (as I understand it), heart, nose and veins. CARDIO should maybe have clued me into that. thanks to those of you who mentioned it!
