A 25-year-old man is facing three charges in connection with the violence in Dublin almost two weeks ago that resulted in the fatal stabbing of another man, after a fourth charge was withdrawn today.

Joshua Brodericks, from Gleann Dara, Rahoon in Galway, made his second appearance before the Dublin District Court today.

He is charged with two counts of violent disorder and one of assault causing harm following the fatal stabbing of Qayyam Balogun in Dublin on 1 June last.

The 21-year-old student at Maynooth University died after it was alleged he was chased by a 14-man pack in the early hours of last Monday week.

The court was told he was attacked on Clarendon Street, subsequently collapsed and “lay dying on the street”.

Joshua Brodericks is not accused of attacking Mr Balogun.

A charge against him of assault causing harm to a woman that night has now been dropped.

Judge Mark O’Connell today remanded Mr Brodericks on continuing bail on the remaining three charges.

He is due appear before the Dublin District Court again in September for gardaĆ to obtain directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
