Wedding of the Week: Cork couple’s day full of love — and one moment of canine comedy

Against a regency backdrop to rival Bridgerton and co-starring cool canines with comic timing, the nuptials of Cork couple Clodagh Walsh and Andrew Sheehan had it all.

Clodagh, from Meelin, Co Cork, and Andrew, from Knocknagree, Co Cork, held their wedding and reception at the 19th-century Kilshane House, Co Tipperary, in April.

They were married by Antoinette Coleman-Kelly, with their daughter Callie a central part of the celebration as flowergirl and the bride’s brother, Conan, walking their beloved pooches down the aisle. 

“It was really important to us that our daughter Callie was part of the ceremony alongside our dogs, Ziggy, Skye, and Loki, making the whole experience feel truly personal, full of love, and centred around our family,” says Clodagh.

“During the ceremony, the dogs were so quiet and perfectly behaved the entire time. Then, at the exact moment the celebrant asked if anyone had any objections to the marriage, Skye let out a bark — the timing couldn’t have been more perfect, and everyone burst out laughing. I think she may have wanted to keep Andrew to herself. It was such a funny, unforgettable moment.”

The bride’s sister, Meadhbh Walsh of Meadhbh Walsh Music, performed the music during the ceremony, joined by Clodagh’s cousin, Ella Vaughan, and musician Andrew Collins.

“We also had a reading flash mob during the ceremony, where Katelyn, Sheila, Michael, Bernadette, Gerard, Chloe, Cillian, Una, Gearoid, Lily, and Paul each stood up to read a line,” says Clodagh.

“Nobody knew it was going to happen, which made it such a special and emotional surprise.” 

Clodagh’s friends Orfhlaith McMahon, Cathrena O’Keeffe, Elizabeth Storey, and Maeve O’Sullivan were her bridesmaids, and Andrew chose his brother Daniel Sheehan and his friends Paul O’Connor, Kevin Leader, and Tommy Sheahan to be his groomsmen.

Now based in Rathmore, Co Kerry, Clodagh, a science teacher, and Andrew, a carpenter, met in Knocknagree on New Year’s Eve 2015 and became an item in April 2018. They got engaged on their seven-year anniversary at Muckross House and Gardens, Killarney, in April 2025.

Clodagh sourced her dream wedding dress at Vows in Cork, and Andrew and his groomsmen were dapper thanks to Suits Select, Tralee.

Tie the Knot Hair and Rebecca O’Donovan Makeup ensured the bride and her attendants were camera-ready.

“Conor was an absolute dream to have as part of our wedding day. He had this incredible way of making everyone feel completely comfortable in front of the camera, even those who would normally run a mile from a photo,” says Clodagh. 

“He also brought so much craic to the day. Michael Hurley, our videographer, was amazing also, and worked so seamlessly alongside Conor.”

The Mixtape created “the perfect atmosphere” for the evening after dinner, adds the bride: “They had everyone on their feet and kept the dance floor full all night long.

“Callie had the best time, too. She was looked after by Auntie Katie’s babysitting service for parts of the day and absolutely adored her.”

Elderwood Floristry brought the couple’s décor vision to life, and instead of a wedding cake, the newlyweds had a champagne tower. 

“Magical doesn’t even begin to describe it. Our day two was held in Dennehy’s Bar, Rathmore. Anthony Dineen was the musician on the night and was absolutely fantastic and created such brilliant energy in the room.”

The honeymoon is slated for August when they will travel to Sicily, Greece, Turkey, and Spain.
