Ireland’s Alex Dunne claimed a third place finish in the F2 Barcelona feature race, continuing his impressive start to the season.

The Rodin Motorsport and Alpine Academy driver extended his streak of appearing on the podium in at least one of the races across an F2 weekend.

Invicta Racing and Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy driver Rafael Camara was able to convert his pole position into his first F2 race win, with Nikola Tsolov finishing behind him in second.

Dunne lined up on the grid in second place after qualifying and raced into an early lead, overtaking Camara at the first turn.

However Dunne’s pitstop strategy would eventually cost him as he went in early at the end of lap 13, with Camara staying out until the end of lap 22.

With his tyres cutting up are the race neared the end, both Camara and Tsolov moved past Dunne who had to be happy with third.

Dunne, who finished in eighth place in the sprint race on Saturday, was leapfrogged by Camara in the Drivers’ Championship race with Dunne now in fourth place on 64 points and Camara up to third with 69.

Nikola Tsolov’s second place finish sees him takes over at the top of the standigs with 86, moving ahead of Gabriele Minì on 83, after he finished fourth.
