A Dublin teenager has tragically died while on holiday with his family in Turkey.
17-year-old Josh Fleming, from Finglas, got into difficulty while swimming in Antalya on Sunday and tragically passed away. A fundraiser has been launched for Josh’s family as they navigate financial challenges associated with bringing Josh home and arranging his funeral.
Josh was a student at Beneavin De La Salle College in Finglas. His great-aunt Anne Marie Portakal has organised the fundraiser, saying that his “sudden passing has left his family, friends, classmates, and wider community devastated”.
“No family should ever have to face the unimaginable pain of losing a child, especially in such tragic and unexpected circumstances while away from home,” Anne Marie said. “We have created this GoFundMe page to help ease some of that burden and allow the Fleming family to focus on grieving and supporting one another during this heartbreaking period.”
Anne Marie added: “Any contribution, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page to help us reach others who may wish to support the family. Josh touched the lives of many people in his short 17 years, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.”
