A lovely place for a lunchtime bite

A brother-and-sister team are getting ready to open their first Cork café wine bar in the coming weeks – filling an empty unit on a busy city centre thoroughfare.
Killian and Emily Treaty, who run the café-wine bar Luna in Kerry, have unveiled plans for a new outlet on Academy Street in Cork. After opening in Killarney in 2022, they are gearing up to expand to Leeside this summer.
The brand is known for home-baked pastries, artisan sandwiches, West Cork Coffee, and glasses of wine.

It’ll be filling the gap left by popular lunch spot Loving Salads, which closed in December. Academy Street is a busy stretch in the city centre with plenty of footfall, making it the perfect space for a new lunchtime venture – and the team at Luna look fully prepared for the job.
The outlet in Kerry has proven popular over the last few years, hosting supper club events and boasting a seasonally changing menu of fresh sandwiches.

The team explained: “Brother and sister team Killian and Emily grew up working in their family’s hospitality businesses in Killarney. Having both returned home in 2022, they saw a gap in their hometown for a casual, high-quality food-and-wine offering.
“Passionate about working with local suppliers and seasonal produce, they got to work developing the concept that would become Luna.”
Elsewhere, shoppers and city workers have been loving salad bowls and healthy lunches at the Sprout & Co café, which has been hugely busy since it opened last year. The organic salad specialists, which have loads of vegan and veggie options, have transformed the former Ulster Bank branch on Winthrop Street into a stylish café and salad bar.
