The Taylor Sheridan series, Landman, has just received a boost in streaming views. This recent surge follows a new, exciting update about the future.
Per Flixpatrol, Landman is the sixth most-streamed program overall on all Amazon channels as of Sept. 6. The drama series starring Billy Bob Thornton has been doing well on streaming, constantly being in the charts over the summer. The streaming popularity comes after the Season 2 teaser trailer introduced a key character from Season 2, which drops on Nov. 16.
Written and created by Yellowstone’s own Taylor Sheridan alongside Christian Wallace, Landman takes place in the oilfields of West Texas. Billy Bob Thornton stars as Tommy Norris, a petroleum Landman and the VP of Operations at M-Tex Oil. The teaser for the highly anticipated Season 2 showed Demi Moore returning as Cami Miller.
Thornton, who previously teased Moore’s more prominent role, revealed in a recent USA Today interview, “Last season, Demi was essentially just the wife of a big-oil guy. There wasn’t a lot to do. Taylor always knew she wasn’t being underused, but (instead) that there was a plan all along.”
Season 1 featured additional performances from Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chavez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, and Jon Hamm. All of which (aside from Hamm) will be returning for Season 2. Aside from Sam Elliott, who will play a new character, T.L., the new faces include Guy Brunet, set to play Charlie Newsom, an oil and gas engineer, and Miriam Silverman as Greta Stidham, a no-nonsense admission counselor.
Sheridan’s Streaming Success Amid Controversies

Landman Season 1, which premiered on Nov. 17, 2024, consists of a total of 10 episodes. It attracted 35 million global streaming viewers, becoming the platform’s most-streamed show at the time of release. Known for his work in the Western genre, be it neo-Western or traditional, many of Taylor Sheridan’s shows have achieved great success. Landman even managed to pull ahead of Sheridan’s other wildly popular TV series, including Yellowstone, Tulsa King, and Special Ops: Lioness.
The drama’s criticism has to do with the commentary surrounding renewable energy, which experts have criticized as disinformation. This, alongside Sheridan’s consistently negative depictions of women and POC, has left a bad taste in the mouths of many viewers. Landman Season 1 has been generally well-received by critics, earning a 78% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences were somewhat skeptical, however, giving it a lower average score of 64%.
Landman is available to stream on Paramount+. Season 2 returns on Nov. 16.
