Turkish actress Ece İrtem has passed away one day after she celebrated her milestone 35th birthday.
The Sun reported on Sunday, June 21, that the soap opera star collapsed in front of her mother at home in Istanbul, Turkey, on Monday, June 15. While paramedics came to the house and attempted to revive her, she died midday Monday, according to her lawyer Uğur Gökkoyun.
“The incident occurred at her home while she was with her mother”, Gökkoyun said per the outlet, noting “initial findings suggest she died due to a heart attack.”

Rumors have circulated about her cause of death being related to alcohol and antidepressants, The Sun reported, citing Turkey Today. Meanwhile, her lawyer questioned whether she had contracted an infection, as he said she had just been visiting Thailand and had been scratched by a monkey there. However, infectious diseases expert Professor Dr. Mehmet Ceyhan told Turkey Today that the scenario was unlikely.
İrtem acted in multiple Turkish TV shows, including the hit series Cranberry Sorbet (known in Turkish as Kizilcik Serbeti), in which she portrayed Işıl.
