Marks and Spencer customers across Ireland are being urged not to eat certain Pink Lady apple products after an urgent recall was issued.

Shoppers across Ireland are being urged to check their fruit after an urgent food safety alert was issued for several apple products sold in Marks and Spencer stores.
Specific batches of Pink Lady Apple products have been recalled because they may contain Salmonella.
Customers have been warned not to eat the affected products, while all affected batches should now be removed from sale with recall notices displayed in stores.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) said today: “The below batches of Marks and Spencer Pink Lady apple products is being recalled due to the possible presence of Salmonella.
“Retailers are requested to remove the implicated batches from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale. Consumers are advised not to eat the implicated batches.”
The recall affects the following items:
M&S Food Pink Lady Apple Slices, 225g, with use by date 24/06/2026M&S Food Pink Lady Apple, 90g, with use by date 24/06/2026M&S Café Pink Lady Apple, 90g, with use by date 24/06/2026
The FSAI added that Salmonella, a bacteria that can cause food poisoning, can lead to severe illness. It explained: “People infected with Salmonella typically develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection, but this can range between six and 72 hours.
“The most common symptom is diarrhoea, which can sometimes be bloody. Other symptoms may include fever, headache, and abdominal cramps. The illness usually lasts four to seven days. Diarrhoea can occasionally be severe enough to require hospital admission. The elderly, infants, and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have a severe illness.”

A spokesperson for Marks and Spencer said: “The supplier PrepWorld is recalling selected prepared Pink Lady apple products due to the potential presence of Salmonella. If you have recently purchased the below product, please do not consume it. Either dispose of the product or bring it back to your nearest store for a full refund.
