Another Limerick business is under threat of closure.
Frankie Downbeat of Downbeat Records, Limerick, says he will struggle to pay rent next month if business continues the way it is, as footfall declines in the city centre.
The record store, based out of Wickam Way, has been open for almost two years, and operates as a cultural backbone of the city.
Frankie is also a well-known vinyl DJ and producer in Limerick’s music scene.

Taking to Downbeats’ Instagram, Frankie said any type of support could be the difference between making it to the store’s second birthday or not:
“Hey guys, so anyone who knows me knows I kind of hate getting on here like this, but so you know it must be serious. Basically, I’ve been on and on about saying anything for a while, but last month was really bad month for us And you know it’s great to see the Sun hitting and all that. But it means that people around Limerick less and less”.
“We don’t sell so much online. so we kind of need that community the Limerick community coming through and Basically if next month is similar to last month. We’re gonna struggle to pay the rent. I would say and The shop might not make it to its second birthday”.
“So you know what you can do if you’re struggling yourself is you can share some of our posts like some of our posts maybe suggest them to a friend or something and If you’re in town and your record shopping make sure to swing by and see us”.
