Two pairings to be kept apart as GAA confirm draw details

Tyrone’s gallant defeat to Kerry means that an All-Ireland SFC draw will be required following today’s quarter-finals, with the proceedings taking place live on RTÉ2 at approximately 6pm (extra-time and penalties in Dublin v Galway allowing).

The GAA has confirmed the draw ramifications for each eventuality from today’s quarter-finals – Louth and Monaghan meet in the first game – as the draw is subject to the avoidance of repeat pairings from any stage in the Championship.

Kerry overcame Tyrone and Mayo got the better of Cork in Saturday’s first two last-eight clashes.

Which all means the following…

If Louth and Dublin win it will result in one repeat pairing, that of the two Leinster rivals who have already played twice this summer.

Draw Details: Due to the avoidance of repeat pairings, Mayo and Kerry will be drawn against Louth and Dublin.

Semi-final Pairings:

Mayo v Dublin / Louth

Kerry v Dublin / Louth

If Louth and Galway win there would be no repeat pairings, which means an open draw will be held.

If Monaghan and Dublin win it would leave one potential repeat pairing, that of Mayo and Monaghan.

Draw Details: Due to the avoidance of repeat pairings, Mayo and Monaghan will be drawn against Kerry and Dublin.

Monaghan v Dublin / Kerry

If Monaghan and Galway win we would have the same potential rematch of Mayo and Monaghan, who met in Round 1 of the All-Ireland SFC back in May.
