Two men have been arrested in connection with a burglary at a house in Co Westmeath in the early hours of yesterday morning.
A woman in her 50s and a man aged in his late teens were injured during the incident, which occurred at St Peter’s Terrace in Athlone, at around 4am.
They were both taken to Portiuncula University Hospital in Ballinasloe, with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Two men aged in their 20s were arrested this morning and are being held at a garda station in Co Westmeath.
A technical examination of the scene in Athlone has been carried out.
Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
