Delta Goodrem has a decades-long career that’s taken her all over the world.

As she prepares to warm the crowd up at the Aviva Stadium ahead of Take That, here’s everything you need to know about Delta Goodrem.
Who is Delta Goodrem?

Born on November 9, 1984, Delta Goodrem is a 41-year-old singer, songwriter, and actress from Sydney, Australia.
She’s had talent from the get-go, first appearing in an ad when she was seven years old. At the same age, she began playing the piano, singing, dancing, and took up acting lessons.
At the young age of 13, she recorded a five-song demo CD, financed by her minor roles and ads on TV.
It was passed on to talent manager Glenn Wheatley, who signed Delta to an artist development deal with independent record label Empire Records.

In the late 90s/early 00s, Delta worked on a 13-track album called Delta. Most of the tracks were written by producer Trevor Carter, but she self-wrote one track and co-wrote two.
She was offered a deal to market and distribute an album, but the then-teen’s parents blocked the deal.
When she was 15, she signed a recording contract with Sony Music, and released an unsuccessful debut single, titled I Don’t Care.
An album and proposed second single were pushed aside as a result of the flop, but Delta put her head down and kept going.

In 2002, she took up the role of Nina Tucker on Neighbours, and it helped re-launch her music career. She scored a Logie for ‘Most Popular New Talent’ in 2003.
Her largely self-written debut studio album, Innocent Eyes, was released in March 2003. It was the highest-selling album in Australia that year.
Her mum, Lea Goodrem, took over from Glenn Wheatley as her manager, and her career soared to new heights.
Delta continued acting, and in March 2005, she starred in her first film role in Hating Alison Ashley, a film based on the namesake 1984 children’s novel.

Fast forward in time, Delta was confirmed as part of the judging panel of the Australian version of The Voice, which aired in 2012. She coached alongside Keith Urban, Joel Madden and Seal.
The singer later coached on the Australian version of The Voice Kids.
She made her return to TV on the 2017 comedy-drama series House Husbands, and later starred as Olivia Newton-John in the biopic Olivia Newton-John: Hopelessly Devoted To You in 2018.
To date, Delta has eight studio albums under her belt, including Pure, set for a 2026 release.

Eurovision

Delta represented Australia at the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Eclipse.
She finished in fourth place, marking the country’s second-best Eurovision result, after it first joined the annual contest in 2015.
Engaged to an Irishman

Delta was previously engaged to former Westlife member Brian McFadden. They first met in 2004; it was professional at first, with the singer being asked to collaborate on Brian’s song Almost Here, but their chemistry quickly turned romantic.
Their relationship was somewhat controversial. Delta faced criticism for being perceived as coming between Brian and his ex-wife, Kerry Katona.
Speaking about the backlash, she said she was ‘pretty sure I got voted the most hated woman in Britain one year’.

In November 2007, the former couple got engaged. It’s believed they were eyeing up Bali as a potential location for their nuptials, but it wasn’t to be.
After seven years together, Brian and Delta announced their split in 2011. In a jointly-released statement, they said the decision came after ‘a lot of soul searching from both parties with the realisation that they have grown apart’.
They emphasised their mutual respect and well wishes for each other’s futures.

Over the years, Delta has dated her Neighbours co-star Blair McDonough, Australian tennis player Mark Philippoussis, and Nick Jonas.
The singer is now married to fellow musician Matthew Copley. They started dating in 2016, got engaged in 2023, and wed in Malta in June 2025.
Health woes

When she was 18 years old, Delta was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, a form of cancer. This forced her to take a career break to undergo treatment.
The singer was given the all-clear five years after her diagnosis.
Her battle with the disease has become part of her public identity, leading to her foundation’s advocacy for blood cancer research and cellular therapy.

In 2018, Delta underwent a salivary gland removal surgery. She woke up after the surgery unable to speak, devastated that she’d lost the ability to talk and sing.
Only her close family and friends knew of her surgery and recovery process; Delta told the Courier Mail on Saturday when she announced the news in 2020.
But she’s back, and better than ever, and ready to raise the roof off Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.
