Diversions still in place this morning

A man in his 30s has died after a motorcycle and a jeep were involved in a collision on Sunday evening.
The fatal road traffic collision occurred on the N20 at Castlewrixon, Ballyhea, Co. Cork at around 8pm. The driver of the motorcycle, aged in his 30s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the jeep, aged in his 80s, was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening at the time.
Local diversions are still in place this morning as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examine this scene.
The body of the motorcyclist was conveyed to the mortuary at CUH, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. A Garda Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support the family of the deceased and the coroner has been notified.
Gardaí are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N20 near Castlewrixon, Ballyhea, Co. Cork between 7:15pm and 8:00pm on Saturday 4th July 2026 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
