A fundraising campaign has been established to assist with repatriating the remains of a Dublin radio presenter who tragically died while holidaying in Spain.
Natasha Gillies, described as a ‘bright light’ by those who knew her, presented The Irish Business Show on Dublin City FM since 2018. The 46 year old mother also served as an ambassador for the Dublin Chamber of Commerce and operated the award-winning agency Diamond Events.
Her sister, Aimee Whelan, has created a GoFundMe page following Natasha’s sudden death, hoping to raise sufficient funds to return her to Ireland so she can be buried amongst those who cherished her most.
Aimee wrote in the fundraiser’s description: “It is with a broken heart that we share the news that our beloved sister/mother/daughter/friend, Natasha, passed away unexpectedly in Spain. Tasha was a bright light to everyone who knew her. She was kind, funny, loved adventures, and was passionate about her business and being on stage making people smile.
“Right now, our family is facing the heartbreaking task of bringing her home to Ireland so we can lay her to rest among the people who loved her most. The costs of international repatriation, funeral arrangements, and travel are significant, and we are asking for help” reports RSVP Live.
“Every euro raised will go directly toward bringing Tasha back to Irish soil so we can say goodbye properly and give her the funeral she deserves, surrounded by family and friends at home.”
She rounded off her heartfelt appeal by stressing that even sharing the page could make a world of difference.
“If you can’t donate, please share this page. Your love, prayers, and support mean everything to us during this impossible time. Thank you for helping us bring Natasha home.”
The fundraiser has so far raised €4,250 of its €4,500 target, with more than 40 generous donors contributing to the cause.
Aimee posted an update beneath the fundraiser, featuring a photo of a black urn bearing the engraving ‘Natasha Anne Gillies’. She accompanied it with the message, “Thank you to every single person from the bottom of our hearts. Tasha is coming home.”
