The public is being invited to take part in a new round of engagement sessions on plans for the future development of University Hospital Galway.
University Hospital Galway and Galway City Council say the Development Control Plan represents the largest ever investment in healthcare infrastructure in the region, aimed at future-proofing hospital services for decades to come.
A previous consultation saw 247 people attend in-person events, with 157 submissions made online. The feedback showed a high level of support for the plans, with many respondents highlighting concerns that existing hospital facilities are outdated and no longer adequate for a growing population.
Further drop-in sessions will take place in Shantalla this week at St Joseph’s Community Centre.
They will run on Thursday, July 9th from 1.30pm to 6.30pm, and on Friday, July 10th from 1.30pm to 5pm.
Organisers say the sessions will provide an opportunity to hear updates on the Development Control Plan, including proposals for a permanent helipad, and to gather further feedback from the public.
