Dublin have been handed a massive lift ahead of Sunday’s All-Ireland semi-final after Ger Brennan revealed All Star defender Eoin Murchan is in contention to face Kerry.
The experienced corner-back has not featured since the Leinster clash with Wicklow, but Brennan says the 29-year-old is “pushing hard” to make a dramatic return for the Croke Park showdown.
Murchan has amassed a stunning medal collection, including five All-Ireland Senior Football Championships, eight Leinster Senior Football Championships, two National Football Leagues, and one All Star Award in 2020.
And there was more encouraging news for the Dubs boss with Sean McMahon also edging towards fitness after a hamstring problem.
Should McMahon prove his fitness, he could be handed the biggest job in Gaelic football – trying to curb Kerry ace David Clifford.
Brennan’s injury list is now looking much healthier, with only Nathan Doran and Killian McGinnis definitely ruled out.
“Nathan Doran, his Achilles is knackered and he got surgery on it the other day so he’s out,” Brennan revealed.
“Sean McMahon, a little nick in the hamstring. It’s something he’s probably had on occasion before and the lads are working hard on Sean so we hope to name him.

“Other than that, everyone else is going well, thankfully.
“Eoin Murchan (hamstring) is pushing hard as well to try and get back.”
McGinnis remains sidelined after ACL surgery, but Brennan also had positive news on Sean Bugler, who returned to training over the weekend.
“Killian McGinnis has obviously had surgery on his ACL,” he said.
“And Sean Bugler trained away at the weekend.
“He did well and we hope he’s going to do well on Sunday as well.
“He won’t lose too much fitness but he’ll have to adapt to what he does over the next couple of weeks.
“Tactically, he’s quite astute, Sean, so he’ll be fine that way once we can get him onto the pitch.”
