On the back of his reelection as Real Madrid President, it is clear that Florentino Perez is keen to make a splash in the transfer market. That could include a bid for one of the best performers at this summer’s World Cup, with a potential record breaking bid in the offing.
Los Blancos have already confirmed a number of signings ahead of next season. Marc Cucurella joined in a €55million deal from Chelsea, with Ibrahima Konate signings on a free transfer after his exit from Liverpool. Bernardo Silva also joined on a free, while Denzel Dumfries will sign from Inter.
While those are intriguing deals, none of them meet the criteria of a ‘galactico’ signing that Perez had in mind for this summer. They already made a move to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid for €150million, an offer that was rejected out of hand.
That deal is a non-runner, but it seems a move could be made for one of the biggest stars at this summer’s World Cup.

Spanish outlet Fichajes are reporting that Real Madrid are eyeing a huge transfer for Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, with an offer worth €190million plus a further €30million in add-ons potentially on the table.
That would shatter Real Madrid’s current transfer record. It would also be just short of the €222million world record transfer fee PSG paid to sign Neymar in 2017.
Olise was in remarkable form at club level this season, recording 22 goals and 31 assists in all competitions for Bayern. He has carried that form into the World Cup, being one of the standout performers in a star-studded France side.
Bayern have insisted that Olise is not for sale at any price this summer. However, the player himself has reportedly been non-committal on his future with the club.
It would be interesting to see if a near world record offer would change their stance over the coming weeks.
In any case, it seems that Real Madrid are intent on making at least one massive signing before the end of the window.
