Locals are being urged not to disturb a new and unique marine visitor to Clarecastle.

A seal has been spotted in recent days in the River Fergus near Clareabbey.

It’s understood the animal has travelled here to follow its common food source of salmon and trout in a new freshwater feeding ground.

Clare County Dog Warden Frankie Coote insists the seal is perfectly content and will likely move on in the coming days.
