One of the North West’s best-known charity nights will not go ahead in 2026, organisers have confirmed.

The committee behind the North West Breast Cancer Ball has announced that this year’s event is being postponed following “careful consideration and consultation”.

The decision comes during what organisers described as a period of transition within both the organising committee and the Breast Unit.

The annual ball has long been a major date in the fundraising calendar, welcoming up to 350 guests each winter, raising funds and awareness for the vital work and research carried out by Breast Centre North West at Letterkenny University Hospital.

Committee members said the decision to postpone was not taken lightly.

“The announcement has been made at this stage to ensure the venue, sponsors, entertainers, guest speakers and everyone involved are informed well in advance,” a spokesperson said.

“The committee would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported the North West Breast Cancer Ball over the years. The continued generosity and commitment of sponsors, volunteers, supporters and guests have played a vital role in the success of the event.

“This is a postponement, not a farewell. The committee looks forward to the Ball’s return and to sharing its plans for the future in due course.”
