An inquest has heard that a mother and her two young daughters died instantly following a collision involving their car and an oil tanker on the N17 near Claremorris in March 2024.

The court heard that Una Bowden, aged 47, and her daughters Saoirse, aged 10, and 14-year-old Ciara, suffered catastrophic injuries in the crash.

The resumed inquests are taking place in Ballina and are being presided over by Mayo District Coroner Dr Eleanor Fitzgerald.
