A man who died following an assault in Dublin earlier this month has been remembered as a “gentleman” with a “heart of gold”.

Mourners at the funeral of Anthony Long heard he was someone who had an ability to put a smile on anyone’s face and was a great friend to many people.

Ahead of the funeral mass at St Luke the Evangelist Church in Mulhuddart, hundreds of people gathered outside Mr Long’s home on Parslickstown Drive.

Many wore Liverpool soccer jerseys as a tribute to him.
