Rory McIlroy let his 36-hole lead slip at the Genesis Scottish Open as thick fog delayed play in round three at The Renaissance Club.
Two separate suspensions of play means players will return to the course at 7am local time on Sunday morning to complete their rounds, with the final round not starting until at least 10:15am.
Masters champion McIlroy was tied for the lead at the halfway stage but three bogeys in the first eight holes of his round saw him slip five shots back when the horn sounded.
The Northern Irishman bogeyed the par three third and fifth holes, as well as the par five seventh, to slip back to six-under-par.
England’s Matthew Fitzpatrick, who was McIlroy’s playing partner, had no such issues however as he made four birdies and one bogey to tie the lead at 11-under.
He is joined at the top by American Michael Thorbjornsen with US Open champions Wyndham Clark headlining a six way tie for third spot, at ten-under.
