Strictly Come Dancing and Love Island star Amber Davies has shared she requested a theatregoer be removed from a Legally Blonde the Musical performance, claiming they had “ruined” the cast’s morale. The West End actress, currently playing Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde the Musical UK and Ireland tour, voiced her frustration following a recent stop in Dublin.
Having completed the first act at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre on Saturday, July 11, she informed her followers that she had requested a woman be escorted out after the cast spotted her filming throughout the performance. Video, flash photography, and audio recording are strictly forbidden during theatre shows due to copyright concerns and the distraction they cause performers on stage.
While audiences routinely film the curtain call – the closing moment where cast members bow and acknowledge the crowd – this remains the only permitted opportunity to record. Amber took to her Instagram stories to issue a firm reminder to audiences about the rules.
Amber Davies warns future theatregoers: ‘You will be asked to leave’
She said: “This is your daily reminder not to film at the theatre. Unfortunately tonight at the Bord Gáis we’ve got a beautiful audience, but there’s just one woman in the front row has been filmed in the entirety of Act One has had us all distracted.
“It’s ruined the morale of our wonderful eighth show on a Saturday night from selfish actions.”
Amber revealed she was so incensed by the filming that she requested theatre staff remove the woman, adding that she “hoped she’s not back for Act Two”.

She said: “Hopefully she’s not back for Act Two, I’ve asked, can she go so we can just enjoy ourselves. But there has been a couple of people filming in Ireland this week and I’m the type of person, I will count how many seats away you are from what door and you will be told and asked to leave.
“So yeah guys, don’t film. Let’s just enjoy the two and a half hours together, we don’t need to film everything. Okay, right I’m gonna go and do Act Two.”
West End performer receives backing over theatre conduct
The video rapidly spread across various social media platforms, with supporters rallying behind Amber. One commenter noted: “respect for amber to singing/acting/being in the moment despite being filmed was still able to know EXACTLY where the filmer was sitting and kick them out.”
Another shared: “Once I went to Mean Girls and the lady’s next to us were shouting vaping and recording the show and the people behind asked the to stop and it almost turned into a fight but please can we just live in the moment! Also sorry that would be painful for the actors sending love x”.
A third remarked: “I don’t film at all at the theatre. Not even the bows. It just has never been a phone out kind of place for me.”
