Motorists are being advised that section of the M6 motorway in Co Westmeath is closed due to poor visibility, as a result of a bog fire.
The fire at Drumman bog in Miltownpass broke out at around 10am this morning.
The M6 is closed in both directions between Junction 2 Kinnegad and Junction 3 Rochfortbridge.
All traffic is being diverted via the R446.
Westmeath County Council is advising motorists to allow extra travel time and to drive with caution.
The M6 (East & Westbound) is currently closed between Kinnegad and Rochfordbridge, Co. Westmeath
