The first trailer for the new biopic I Play Rocky has been released with Anthony Ippolito portraying Sylvester Stallone in the story of how a struggling actor brought a classic to the big screen.
Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Peter Farrelly (Green Book), I Play Rocky will be released later this year in time for the 50th anniversary of Rocky.
“Told ‘no’ at every turn, Stallone bets everything on himself, holding the line on playing the lead against seemingly impossible odds,” says the synopsis for I Play Rocky.
“The result is the ultimate underdog story behind the ultimate underdog movie.”

Premiering in November 1976, Rocky was nominated for 10 Oscars and won three: Best Picture, Best Director (John G Avildsen), and Best Film Editing.
Alongside Ippolito as the young Stallone, the I Play Rocky cast also includes AnnaSophia Robb, Matt Dillon, Stephan James, Tracy Letts, Jay Duplass, and PJ Byrne.
I Play Rocky will open in cinemas on Friday, 6 November.
