The damage comes as Slane is about to put the finishing touches to preparations for one of the biggest music events of the year.
There was a night of antisocial behaviour in Slane last night.
Barriers erected as part of the traffic and crowd management plan for the Luke Combs Slane concerts this weekend were pulled down overnight, and a number of plant pots in the village were vandalised.
Fine Gael Councillor Paddy Meade, who visited the village this morning says he reclaimed a life buoy that was also throw into the river.
“I was able to get the rope and a bit of it was on the edge and pull it back in. But it’s completely mindless vandalism and it’s sad. God forbid there was an accident at the weekend and the lifebuoy was needed. That would be a tragedy. Now, the good company to put up the barriers, they were out there this morning as well putting the barriers back up and having to replace the broken ones. They’re not going to leave any broken barriers. They’re going to replace them with new ones.”
