The 23-year-old starts at 8.03am alongside Francesco Molinari and French amateur Lev Grinberg, while the grouping has a 1.09pm tee time for Friday.
Rory McIlroy will not go out until 3.15pm alongside 2024 winner Xander Schauffele and Ryder Cup team-mate Matt Fitzpatrick in the marquee afternoon group.
By then he will have seen how defending champion Scottie Scheffler has fared as the world number one, who missed his first cut in four years at the Scottish Open on Friday, is out at 9.58am.
The 37-year-old, bidding for a second Claret Jug and a seventh major championship, has struggled somewhat by his lofty standards since successfully defending his Masters title in April, but with three top-seven finishes in his last four Open starts, will be hopeful of another tilt at the title he won in 2014 at nearby Royal Liverpool.

Less than half an hour before McIlroy’s opening round, compatriot Shane Lowry will be desperately seeking a shot in the arm for what has been a most frustrating season.
The 2019 Open winner is out at 2.53pm and will have England’s Aaron Rai and five-time major winner Brooks Koepka for company. It’s a 9.47am slot for the trio in round 2.

The 54-year-old, who made his tournament debut in 1996 and won successive titles in 2007 and 2008, has an 8.14am slot for Friday.
Another former Irish winner, Darren Clarke, is out at 12.47pm alongside Adrien Saddier of France and Bernd Wiesberger and will be hoping to improve on recent showings. The 2011 champion has missed the cut in four of his last five appearances at the tournament.
On Friday he will be the first Irish golfer in action when he tees off at 7.41am.
Two amateurs will be flying the Irish flag at Royal Birkdale.
David Howard – pictured above – is out first at 10.42am alongside Kazuma Kobori and Tom Sloman, while Offaly’s Stuart Grehan tees off at 12.14pm with 2022 Open champion Cam Smith and Keith Mitchell of the United States for company.
Howard is the final Irishman out in the second round, with their group setting out at 3.48pm.
Grehan earned golden tickets to the Open Championship, Masters and US Open with victory in the 2026 Amateur Championship last month and tees off on Friday at 7.08am.
