Kourtney Khloe McCormick tragically died
The family of six-year-old Kourtney McCormick has paid tribute to a woman who helped them rush her to hospital after she was struck by a van.
The collision occurred in the Springfarm Heights area of Newry on Sunday, June 21. The young child was taken to hospital but tragically died as a result of her injuries. A 40-year-old woman who was arrested has been released on bail pending further police inquiries, reports Belfast Live.
In an acknowledgement shared by Paul McEvoy Funeral Directors, the family said: “We, as a family of our little Kourtney McCormick, wish to express our deepest gratitude. We are deeply touched by the outpour of support and love we received following the passing of our sweet little girl, Kourtney.
“We would like to thank the lady who arrived at the scene and helped us take our little girl straight to Daisy Hill AandE Department. You are our special angel; we are internally grateful to you.
“We are profoundly grateful to all of the doctors and medical staff in Daisy Hill Hospital who fought so hard to keep our Kourtney alive, and also for the beautiful guard of honour they gave Kourtney in the room as she was being taken out to be rushed to the Royal Victoria Hospital.
“We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the surgeons and medical staff of the ICU Department at the Royal Victoria Hospital for all their efforts to save Kourtney’s life. We will be forever grateful that yous gave us the chance to hold our baby and say goodbye to her in our arms.”
The family also expressed their deep gratitude for the assistance and compassion shown by the PSNI officers and the priest who supported them at both Daisy Hill and the Royal Victoria Hospital, as well as their ongoing support throughout this devastating period.
“Words cannot adequately express our heartfelt thanks for the overwhelming support our family has received from Kourtney’s primary school, St. Patrick’s the Meadow, our entire community and all around the world,” they added.
“To our beautiful neighbours, family, and friends, and all the local businesses who supplied food at Kourtney’s wake, we never could have got through that first week without you. To everyone who took part in Kourtney’s Mass Of The Angels, especially Canon Brown and The Choir Studio, who made her mass so angelic, thank you.
“To all of Kourtney’s beautiful little friends, inside and outside of school, the loving support you have shown us has been amazing and truly shows how much Kourtney meant to each and every one of you. We truly appreciate it.
“Thank you to Paul McEvoy Funeral Directors for the dignified, compassionate, and professional manner in which they carried out the funeral arrangements. We could not have asked for anyone better to support us in giving our beautiful Kourtney the send-off she deserved.
“As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our sincere appreciation.”
Kourtney’s Month’s Mind Mass is set to take place on Saturday, July 18 at 7.30pm in St. Brigid’s Chapel, Newry.
