Antrim’s three goals made the key difference…
Meath have suffered a 3-10 to 0-12 defeat at the hands of Antrim in this afternoon’s All-Ireland Intermdeiate semi-final at Breffni Park.
Eva McAllister’s early goal but Antrim 1-3 to 0-2 in front, but four Meath points in a row drew the sides level, with three from Emma Regan and one from Aoife Minogue.
Two scores before the interval had the Saffrons 1-5 to 0-6 ahead at the interval, while McAllister found the net for a second after an early Antrim point at the start of the second period.
That left the Royals with a mountain to climb, as they trailed by 2-6 to 0-6. Minogue struck two of the the next three points to keep Meath in the fight, but Antrim found the next three after that to extend their lead to eight.
Meath chased a goal as the clock ticked down, with Minogue and Regan on target again. Stephen Sheil’s team pushed hard to raise a green flag, but it turned out to be Antrim who struck the net late on, as Clíona Griffin’s effort secured her team’s place in the decider, where they’ll meet Laois.
